The Bridge opens day two at the Bridgekeeper’s cabin. The Wanderer completes his account which leads from late-‘70s political disappointment, divorce and a disastrous attempt to give up on changing the world; healing while working in the orchards of Washington State — to three more transcontinental walks and a second marriage.

The intellectual journey revolves around the discovery of important tools for change in Post-Modernist theory. A theme elaborated by introducing a new narrative level. Throughout the day, the Bridgekeeper keeps recalling cartoon-like scenes from her last night’s dream. These vignettes playfully explore the power of language and other cultural systems. As another day dawns, the Bridgekeeper shows the Wanderer the way to the bridge. The book ends with the crossing.
